Current Staff Laurie Anne Pearlman, Ph.D. is a clinical
psychologist who has worked with survivors of a wide range of traumatic
experiences. She has published and presented widely on psychological trauma,
healing, and vicarious traumatization. Among her books is
Psychological trauma and the adult survivor: Theory,
therapy, and transformation, coauthored with I.L.
McCann. Dr. Pearlman works at has worked on the project from its inception in
1999. She also works at
TREATI.
Ervin
Staub, Ph.D. is a professor of psychology at the University
of Massachusetts at Amherst. For many years he has studied the origins of
group violence, including genocide and mass killing. In recent years he has
studied its prevention, including reconciliation between groups. Dr. Staub
also does research on helping behavior and altruism, as well as youth
violence. He has recently been developing a Ph.D. concentration on the
psychology of peace and
the prevention of violence at UMASS. He has
published many books, including
The roots of evil: The origins of genocide and other
group violence and a new book
The
psychology of good and evil: Why children, adults and groups help and harm
others. Dr. Staub has worked on the project since its
inception in 1999. Alphonsine Abia Mutabonwa is president of the
Rwandan Trauma Counselors Association.
She began working with the project in 2003 as local coordinator. Vachel Miller is an advanced graduate student at the
University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He has worked on the project since 2002. Past Staff Athanase Hagengimana, M.D. is a psychiatrist who
taught at the
National University of
Rwanda during the study period. He is interested in the origins of genocide
as well as traumatic grief and healing. Dr. Hagengimana worked on the project
from 1999 to 2000.
Alexandra Gubin, Ph.D. is a graduate of the
Personality and Social Psychology program at the
University of
Massachusetts at Amherst . Her research interests include
interpersonal violence, AIDS prevention, trauma, and program evaluation. Ms.
Gubin worked on the project from 1999 to 2001 and currently serves as a
website consultant. Athanase Dusabe Mugabe has a degree in psychology
from the
National University of
Rwanda. Mr. Mugabe worked on the project from 1999 to
2000. Solange Shengero has a degree in public health from
the
National University of
Rwanda. Ms.
Shengero worked on the project from 1999 to 2000. Eylül Wintermeyer, a student at the
University of Washington -
Seattle was our summer ‘99 intern. Adin DeLaCoeur served on the project in 2001. She is a social worker in private practice
in Northampton, Massachusetts and is a faculty member of the
School for International Training. |
